How to Restore Los Angeles County Oak Woodlands by Starting in Your Backyard
In case you missed it, LA County Planning mailed out a great informational flyer about the importance of preserving our local oak woodlands — to protect our local wildlife, prevent soil erosion, slow climate change, and more. The flyer outlines some of the things residents can do to ensure we don’t lose oak trees, as well as how to plant and protect new oak trees.
Learn more about oak woodlands conservation and oak tree permits on LA County’s Oak Tree Program webpage.
If you’d like information about how best to water and care for new and existing oaks on your property during a drought, and what you can do to combat invasive wood-boring beetles, visit the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains’ website. You can also join them for oak tree care days.
