SPECIAL NOTE: 

Once SCE completes its undergrounding project along TCB (estimated mid-late April), Caltrans will begin overnight closures of SR-27 in the unincorporated area of Topanga for re-pavement work (estimated to start June 2).  Paving affects both directions of Topanga Canyon Boulevard and is expected to be completed by July 2025. During the paving operation, one lane will be open for use by both directions of traffic, with flaggers directing alternating traffic.  Additional Caltrans improvements, including guardrail and vegetation control, are scheduled for early 2026 (or may be delayed until May 2026 if work is suspended). The closures will be from Monday through Friday, from 10:00pm to 6:00am each night.  See the full press release here.

SCE trenching operation:
Old Topanga Canyon Road to just south of Happy Trail
8:30am. to 4:30pm weekdays.

SCE electrical work:
Highvale Trail to Happy Trail
9:00pm to 5:00am, Sunday through Thursday nights.

SCE pole replacement:
Poles throughout the canyon are being inspected with some requiring replacement or wire upgrade.  Residents affected by temporary power outages during the pole replacements will be informed by SCE ahead of time (via email or text alerts or road signage).


DETAILED INFORMATION:

SCE ROAD WORK
One-way traffic control for SCE trenching (digging) operation, postmile 4.3 to 6.7, 8:30am to 4:30pm weekdays.  The electrical work (does not require digging) will be done an night, Monday – Thursday.  SCE hopes to complete its work by mid-late April (weather permitting).  Caltrans will follow with repaving the SCE construction areas starting sometime in early June (or earlier if circumstances allow).

CALTRANS ROAD WORK

Starting Monday, June 2, Caltrans will begin overnight closures of SR-27 in the unincorporated area of Topanga for pavement work. The closures will be from Monday through Friday, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night.

The closures will impact both directions of Topanga Canyon Boulevard between Cezanne Avenue to Happy Trail. During the paving operation, one lane will be open for use by both directions of traffic, with flaggers directing alternating traffic. Topanga Canyon Boulevard (SR-27) from Pacific Coast Highway to Grand View Drive.  This stretch of SR-27 is closed to the motoring public from midnight to 5 a.m. daily.  Caltrans is planning to lift the one-lane traffic control section sometime in early March.

Closures are weather-permitting and subject to change. Motorists should expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes during construction hours. Fines can be doubled in a work zone.
