EVACUATIONS — KNOW YOUR ZONE NUMBER!

During a disaster when life is threatened and it is necessary to evacuate Topanga (either parts of or its entirety), the Fire Department or Sheriff’s Department may issue an evacuation order, typically through AlertLA.  Orders will specify which Topanga zones are to evacuate, the direction to evacuate, and shelter information.  Traffic will become heavily congested during an evacuation. The earlier you leave, the greater survival rate you and the community at large will have during a major disaster.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department has divided Topanga into nine (9) evacuation zones.  There are several ways to find out in which Topanga Zone you live or work:

• Zone Maps - locate your home or business on the Topanga Zone Map below.
• Topanga Street List - locate your zone and FRS radio channel by street name.
• Genasys Protect - a website where you can enter your street address and find your zone.
• Topanga Access Card - an evacuation identification card that displays your own zone number and helps expedite entry into the canyon after an evacuation.
