Butterfly Day in Topanga

Mermaid Butterflyhouse

This year’s Butterfly Day is Sunday, May 5, from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Butterfly Day is a non-profit environmental festival held at the Mountain Mermaid in Topanga. The day-long celebration brings our community together to promote pollinator awareness and support efforts to plant certified pollinator habitats throughout Topanga Canyon and Malibu.

Enjoy a live butterfly habitat, native plant sales, exhibits, live music, performances, a Tongva land-blessing ceremony, beehives, reptiles and raptor exhibits, face-painting, arts and crafts, artisanal food, and more! Take a moment to absorb the serene beauty of these delicate creatures as they dance from flower to flower. Leave the butterfly house with a renewed sense of appreciation for the natural world and a deeper understanding of the importance of protecting these essential pollinators.

Enjoy live music, spoken word performances, reptile and raptor exhibits, and educational talks on pollinator conservation, sustainable gardening, and preserving local ecosystems.  Discover a wide selection of native plants perfect for creating your own butterfly garden. Our knowledgeable vendors will be on hand to provide expert advice and tips on choosing the right plants to attract and support butterflies in your outdoor gardens.
