Beyond the Brush: Protecting Topanga Through Strategic Fuel Reduction

Join us at the Topanga Library on November 20th at 6:00pm for an important town hall meeting detailing the strategic Fuel Reduction Program planned for the Santa Monica Mountains.
LACoFD Assistant Chief Drew Smith, LACoFD Forestry Division Assistant Chief Brad Weisshaupt, and MRCA Fire Prevention Specialist Leigh Adams Croley will provide a deep dive into the strategies designed to enhance Topanga’s fire resilience. The discussion will cover:
● The implementation and importance of strategic fuel breaks to disrupt fire spread. ● An overview of the various fuel treatment types (including mastication prescribed herbivory and prescribed fire). ● How community understanding is vital to the success of these essential operations.
