DON'T FALL VICTIM TO SCAMMERS
Recently, some Topangans have been targeted by scammers regarding their power bill and related accounts. Edison is aware of these incidents and has alerted their corporate security team.
If you are contacted by phone or email and it seems suspicious, call SCE at 1-800-655-4555 to report the incident and for any questions or concerns about the scam.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION TO AVOID SCAMMERS:
1. SCE never calls customers on the telephone and demands immediate payment with the threat of service disconnection
2. SCE does not accept prepaid cash cards for bill payments.
3. SCE does not have a DISCONNECTION DEPARTMENT.
SCE customers should also note that:
1. An SCE employee will never ask for money in person.
2. Never reveal your credit card, ATM, or calling card numbers (or PIN numbers) to anyone.
3. If someone calls and requests you leave your residence at a specific time for a utility-related cause, call the police. This could be a burglary attempt set up by the caller.
4. Be suspicious of amyone who arrives at your house without an appointment, asking you to check an appliance or wiring, or suggesting that there may be some other electrical problem inside or outside your residence.
5. If you think you received a suspicious email requesting information about your account or from an unknown utility, please take the following precautions:
DO NOT reply to the request
DO NOT click on any links in the email
DO NOT open any attachments
DO NOT provide any personal information
