In his Friday briefing, Governor Gavin Newsom announced a partnership between the State of California and FEMA, the first of its kind in the nation, to reimburse local restaurants for preparing nutritional meals for vulnerable seniors.

The American Red Cross faces severe blood shortages as coronavirus outbreak threatens availability of our nations' supply. To help in this time of need, there will be a local Red Cross blood drive at the Topanga Community Center on MAY 14, 2020 from 10am to 4pm. Spaces are limited, so you will need to sign up prior to donating.

The Los Angeles County Department of Workforce Development, Aging and Community Services (WDACS), with the support of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, announced a free delivery program for older adults and individuals with disabilities. This Countywide program, called Critical Delivery Service, will deliver groceries, household items, and other vital necessities to individuals who are unable to leave their homes due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

As you can imagine, these programs are experiencing delays due to the demand, but rather than wait some local heroes are stepping up to heed the call to action.
