Ever been frustrated by the loss of power — no way to heat or cool your home, worried about loss of communication, having to throw out spoiled food, or having medical support systems compromised?

NOW IS THE TIME TO HAVE YOUR VOICE HEARD!

Topanga residents have a chance to participate in a study that looks at the effects of PSPS (Public Safety Power Shutoff) events that we’re especially vulnerable to during Red Flag days, when the fire risk is high.

Come to the Topanga Library on Saturday, Jan. 6, 11:00 am - 12:30 pm, to share your concerns in a focus group seeking input from residents (especially the elderly and medically vulnerable) and business owners in high fire risk communities about their experiences with PSPS events and their ideas for improvements.

This is a chance for Topangans to provide recommendations for industry and policymakers to address the impact on our town during PSPS events.

This is the final phase of a study conducted by researchers at San Jose State University's Wildfire Interdisciplinary Research Center, and the University of Oregon. This major study, includes outreach to high fire risk communities throughout California, Oregon, Idaho, Canada, and Australia.

PLEASE COME. It's only an hour-and-a-half of your time, but could have a lasting impact on how we deal with power shutoffs during critical times.
