Topanga's First-Ever Virtual Evacuation Drill A Success!

Topanga Witnesses Live How To Survive "The Big Fire"
Topanga's first-ever virtual evacuation drill provided vital information on how the Topanga community can survive "the big fire". The August 12th Drill was sponsored by LA County Fire, Office of Emergency Preparedness, Sheriff's Dept., CHP, Animal Care & Control, TCEP and the Topanga Town Council. Officials gave a step-by-step presentation on how residents can survive a wildland fire under the worst conditions.
The presenters also answered resident questions during the Q&A session on various concerns such as; How do I know when to evacuate?, How does a fire spread in the canyon?; Where do I get verified and updated information quickly?; What do I do with my horses?; How to communicate if I have no power?; and much more.
Special after-drill survey raffle prizes totaling over $3600 were donated by
IQAir (room and car air purifiers, plus N-95 masks),
Elmridge Protection's iEvac, (evacuation hood and cape), LA County Supervisor's Office (cell phone charger sticks),
TCEP (Element fire extinguisher sticks),
Topanga Town Council (4-week food supply, portable solar panel, fire escape ladder, Blue Can water, smoke detectors, and more. Thank you to all donors for supporting this worthy cause and helping people better prepare for disasters.
