Why Topanga Voted on Nov. 8 for the County Supervisor and Not for the Mayor of Los Angeles

Los Angeles County’s population is larger than all but eight states, has a budget of nearly $40 billion and is run entirely by a five-person Board of Supervisors.

Topanga is located in the County’s Third District and Lindsey P. Horvath is the newly-elected Supervisor. The Supervisor and her staff are the direct representatives for the community of about 13,000 residents known as “Unincorporated Topanga” and the Topanga Town Council (TTC) is the main liaison with the County.

Public Comment Period for LA County's Draft Community Wildfire Protection Ordinance
Published January 31, 2022, at 11:30 a.m.

The Community Wildfire Protection Ordinance (CWP), formerly known as the Reduce Damage From Wildfire Ordinance intends to address evacuation egress during wildfire events, to improve public safety, and to reduce risks to development located within a Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone — that's us, Topanga.

The LA County Department of Planning is collecting public comments on a draft of the ordinance until February 20, 2023.

Topangans, Get Out and Vote!


Your Voice Counts! Here's How to Vote in LA County

Any registered voter in Los Angeles County can cast their vote between now and November 8, Election Day 2022 — by mail, in-person, or by putting your mail-in ballot in a ballot drop box.  If you'd like to vote in person, you can take your mail-in ballot (which you should have received in the mail, as long as you are registered and your address is up to date) to the Topanga Community Center (TCC) or another Los Angeles County in-person voting center, and tell the poll workers that you'd like to vote in person.  Check the TCC's available dates below.

September 5, 2022 Marks the LA County Library's 110th Birthday

On September 5, 1912, the County of Los Angeles Board of Supervisors established the “County Free Library.” The first branch was established on April 23, 1913 in one room of Mrs. Belle Jenks’ home in Willowbrook, with a collection of just 50 books. In 1931 — more than 90 years ago! — the Library’s Summer Reading Program was inaugurated.
